Managing Our Natural Resources....

Enduring Understanding:

Everything we need to survive and live our lifestyle originates from the earth. Some natural resources can be replenished by the earth and some cannot. We can manage these natural resources by reducing our use, reusing materials, recycling and composting!

Essential Questions:

1. Where does all our "STUFF" come from?

(vocab: human footprint, extraction, natural resources, renewable, nonrenewable)

2. Where does all our "STUFF" go when we no longer need it?

(vocab: sustainable, decomposition, degrade, compost, reduce, reuse, recycle, vermiculture, landfill)

3. How do my daily choices impact our natural resources?

A WORLD OF WASTE

Throughout this unit we will explore how reducing, reusing, and recycling can help you, your community, and the environment become more sustainable for a happier, healthier planet!

OUR NATURAL RESOURCES

Where do all our natural resources  come from?

Where should these resources go when we are finished using them? (for example, what should you do with a plastic water bottle?)

What types of natural resources  make up your favorite "stuff"?

PROBLEMS WITH PLASTICS

What natural resource is used to make plastic?

How does our use of plastic impact the environment?

Are you responsible for any plastic pollution? How would you know if you were?

EARTH"S GOLDEN RULES

It's simple really.....

Everything comes from somewhere.

Everything must go somewhere.
